The Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center
Technical Aspects
Sound Reinforcement
With amazing acoustics, shows from the Port
Angeles Symphony (without any sound reinforcement)
to Arlo Guthrie, Judy Collins and the Irish Tenors, Irish Rovers, Harlem Gospel
Choir, Barrage, Cirque Zuma,
Glenn Miller Orchestra
and many more (with reinforcement)
have produced wonderful shows in the Port Angeles Performing Arts Center.
In it's basic setup, the hall includes a Mackie
FX Pro-22 with a 16 x 4 snake leading
to the stage right side of the stage behind the proscenium. The snake (with 16
inputs and 4 outputs)
with a stage box at stage right will be adequate for many shows. 2
Mackie 450's mounted on the ceiling FOH
as well as 2
JBL PRX735 three-way full range main speakers
on the side walls of the auditorium provide great sound with minimum feedback.
From the Mackie mixer, we can have 2 monitor mixes to 2 Peavey wedges on stage for stage monitors.
Inventory of Microphones are 2 wireless hand held, 6 Shure SM-58's with stands and 2 SM-81s for instrument micing.
The production console including light and
sound control is located
in the house to stage left of center.
Speaker clusters are many times added to stage
left and right
to augment or replace the overhead Mackie Cluster and JBLs.

For more monitor mixes, or larger groups
requiring more equipment, the renting group will need to provide their own
equipment and operator.
Lighting
The stage lighting is controlled by an ETC Element 60-250.
There are 3 electrics over the stage each with
8 6" Altman Fresnels DEAD HUNG.
There are 8 control channels on #1 and #2 and 6 control channels on #3.
There are 6 Floor pockets; 2 on each side, and 2 across the back of the stage.
There are 7 Blizzard ToughPar Quadra RGBW

the stage.
FOH is lighted by 9 ETC Source Fours on the
ceiling in 6 channels,
and 6 ETC Source Fours on each side wall of the auditorium (shown below) with
5 channels on each wall. There are 6 ETC Parnels on Pipe over the apron on 2

One 4 channel dimmer pack is mounted on the stage right end of #2 electric for specials over the stage.

The stage apron is lighted by 6 ETC Parnels accessible from the stage.
Blizzard ToughPar Quadra RGBW fixtures
The chart below shows channel/circuit
numbers/addresses for all lights FOH
as well as over stage.
Currently all lights except LEDs are conventional lights with gel frames.
6 LED lights are over the apron to give
the console addressable colors to wash the stage.
All lights are dead hung, and over stage lights
are reachable from rolling scaffold from stage.
Torm lights are accessible from ladder, and ceiling positions are accessible
from attic.
These ceiling light positions are very hard to reach, and generally don't get
gelled.
The pictures are not awesome, but the colors are.
